JURNEY DESCRIPTION:

Day 1: From Athens to Mantineia, Agia Fotini, Kapsia Cave, Levidi. Overnight & dinner to Levidi

Day 2: Libovisi, Vytina, Stemnitsa, Dimitsana, Kardaras and other villages. Onernight & dinner to Tripolis

Day 3: Sightseeing of Tripolis, coffee, return to Athens.

 

Day 1

We are going to depart from your hotel in Athens at 9.00 am and about 1.5 hours later we will pass Artemisio tounel. We approach Mantineia archaeological site, Agia Foteini church, Kapsia village and Kapsia cave. After this unique cave, we are going to visit  our friend Santie to her winery. We are going  to taste her wines, get informed for this very old procedure and to say her goodbye by receiving a  souvenir. We continue to Levidi village and see the old clock in the central square of the village, which has indices stopped while the Germans blew up the occupation. We are sitting already to Koumpouris tavern and we are overlooking the imposing Mainalo, the valley and the mountains of Artemisium and Chelmos in the background. On April 14  1821, was Levidi one of the historical battles of the revolution against the Ottomans. After Koumpouris delicious roast lamp, kokoretsi  and his yogurt with honey and walnuts, its time to get some rest at our hotel Levidi Suites. We can join to our hotel bar or get outside to bar Lithos, have a drink and discuss.

 

Day 2

After our hotel breakfast  we say good bye to Stathis and begin for Libovisi village ,through the forest, where old man of Morias,Theodoros Kolokotronis was born. We are going to visit his house and find out his rich history. Then we visit  Vytina, Stemnitsa, Dimitsana and Kardaras, all almost back to back villages with traditionally stone buildings. We can buy local products and make a stop wherever you like. The Kardaras is the closest village to the ski center of Mainalon, located on the main road. Then we take the way to Tripolis  and settle to  Arcadia Hotel rooms.After we rest we visit our good friend Giorgos, to his traditional tavern . Live music, nice Giorgos wine and have a good time because remember "YOU ARE AT GREECE !"

 

 

DAY 3 

Breakfast and by walking distance we approach Malliaropoulion Theatre. The theater was founded in 1905 and inaugurated five years later. Courtesy of John Malliaropoulos who was a doctor and an ardent art lover. This work of the great architect Anastasios Metaxas. As the benefactor Malliaropoulos not feidoleftike spending Metaxas was able to use excellent craftsmen. Decorating worked the famous French architect Joli. With deep red plush seats, leather Quinton, luxury boxes and twelve dressing rooms, was to mark the cultural life of the whole Greece. Then we visit Areos Square, which was become  the symbol of the revolution, the heroic Tripolitsa Kolokotronis. Cofee break and we take our way back to Athens, full of nature images , Greek ancient and modern history!
